The use of battery,and hybrid locomotives isn't new,the NYC,had Alco/GE,Des Class locos,that were battery propelled,and had the diesel to charge them! They also could be operated from third rail power! The DL&W had a couple too! Another path to follow,as there are earlier units that GE built,and used on street railroads and Interurbans! Yup. People think tractor-trailers are so incredibly awesome and huge and heavy. They are a joke compared to any train. Respect trains. Automobile types like trucks get more than enough respect - but trains are the real “threat”. You put your truck in the tracks - you lose. Period!

There maybe multiple people to point fingers at regarding what happened but, the biggest has to be the switch tender on duty. They may have been inexperienced but, how hard is it to throw the switch then step up and visually confirm that the switch was lined correctly? The northbound wasn't allowed to come through until he said it was clear. Would've only taken a few extra seconds to check and they didn't. Another example of common sense not be used. They may have been under a lot of pressure but, seems all the more reason to leave no room for doubt.

At the port in Savannah, we have 2 1500s, 2 1200s, and 1 1001 with another 1200 waiting on a repair. I didn't hear butthead before I got there, but I guess it has something to do with the fact that anytime we MU them, we butt their front ends (the long hood) together for visibility in either direction.

When someone asked the workers "how's it going?" they said "Okay, but this work is a grind" (They usually have a water tank car at the end of the train with workers hosing down hot spots etc.)

They might be turning old trains into new trains, same thing as recycling turning old papers, newspapers, bottles into new papers, newspapers and bottles. It would nice if they can also turn old vehicles, shoes and places into new vehicles, shoes and places.

Back in the day,a General Order,would have been issued,and the area involved would have flagmen,and torpedoes would have been used to alert engineers and conductors that they were in a work area! The uses of flares,also would have been used,as a backup to the system! Mayhaps,the reintroduction of Rule 99,on flagging might prevent these obvious blunders! The bean counters,in the long run,cause more money being spent,and create more problems in the long term! The Terminal would be a hub for marta, regional passenger train service, local and regional buses, and other transportation services. This would be a great investment for Atlanta, Georgia, and the Atlanta Metropolitan Region.

Atlanta Democratic Mayor Andrea Dickens is a great leader with clear communication, decisiveness, trustworthiness, empowerment, and resilience. Mayor Andre Dickens has a close working relationship with the Residents of the city of Atlanta, Business leaders, Governor Brian Kemp, and the Buckhead City Committee and Buckhead community residents. I’m a retired locomotive engineer with 44 years experience. I’m always amazed when watching these videos and they all have one thing in common! You people are so dumb! Including police 👮 I’ve seen some things that just make me bust out laughing! Like cumin up to a car stuck on the track. I knew it was there and I was pulling up to it I had my train totally under control. They didn’t know it! lol 😂 I had brakes set but left the throttle open it was screaming I pulled up with in notch 8 .. got half a block away and they were all running. So I just noched down and the train came to a quick stop 🛑

Fun fact, I've actually ridden in coaches pulled by 4501!

Ive been driving Freight trains for decades. Hitting trucks is more common than youd think. Personally I despise long hood running, but if you hit a truck, at least youve got some buffer between the truck and the cab. I know of at least 3 incidents when hitting trucks short hood running have resulted in train drivers being seriously injured and even killed. The train doesnt always win, despite some of the stupid comments written by people who have no clue.
